deceased receipts due to bad weather in the course of the

year.

It is expected that when the new regulations came into

force freight on goods and the increased fares for 1st class passengers will amount to $60.00 per day or $1,800.00 per month. In this case the estimated amount of Revenue will exceed expenditure by $2,800.00 per month excluding Pier

Rent and Government rent and the charter hire of the 12

launches. Cheaper coal will increase the estimated profit,

dearer coal diminish it,

desire to be allowed to continue to run these Ferry Services

for the following reasons :-

First.

That the Government has prohibited the sale of

launches out of the Colony.

Secondly.

That there is hope that if the price of

coal becomes cheaper a small profit will be made probably sufficient to make up for the charter hire of the launches and there is hope the passenger traffic may show some increase Thirdly. That since kir.Wong Lan Sang and his combination of Launch Companies have run this ferry business for the last 17 years, they do not wish to have the business suddenly taken out of their hands until the European War is over and they are able to dispose of their launches without loss or employ them at a profit, the present supply of trading launches in the harbour being in excess of the demand,

The estimate of daily traffic can be easily verified

as can the estimated expenditure,
